Leaving engineering to be a Stay-at-Home Mom. The decision to leave behind a 6-figure income.
Updated: 4 hours ago
I'm making a big decision not to work outside the home anymore; at least not for a corporation; not for Boeing as an industrial engineer.
I'm unmotivated;
not willing to do it anymore. If I'm honest, I've hated it (dreaded it) often; though I've had periods of glory, success, enjoyment of my abilities, a sense of accomplishment and importance. But I've been counting down my final days since I got pregnant in July 2019 and the final date just keeps getting pushed out. Daniel (my one year old), my well-being and health, and the baby I'm now pregnant with have taken a backseat because the anxiety over work takes the front.
Money-wise, it would be better to stay, but what amount of money can buy back time with my babies, my eyesight, enjoyment of life, youth? EDIT: I prayed earnestly about this decision. God gave me this job in the first place, so giving it up was a complicated decision. Did God mean for me to work there forever? Am I called to stay home with my children? What is right Biblically? The answer I received is to quit the job (so much more than just a job) and become a full-time, devoted, stay-at-home mom. The same month that I quit, the same income was added to my husband's paychecks. It was zero financial loss for us. If that's not confirmation, what is? I walked out on the water and I don't want to forget this time (one of many times) that God made me walk on water. It's been around 7 years and still going strong.
